Alpha Cullen Niles rejects Rebel Lawson as his mate and Luna, dismissing her appearance and demanding secrecy. Rebel accepts without revealing her pain, then breaks down alone by the lake as her wolf Roxie withdraws in distress. The rejection dismantles her expectation that a fated partner would cherish and protect her. This listing combines four books.
Lily is blamed for her sister Stephanie's death and spends years in her shadow. When she discovers a mate bond with Stephanie's former intended partner, James Anderson, his reaction confirms her fears of being an unwanted replacement. Lily rejects him. Later revelations drive James to seek forgiveness, leaving her to decide whether that future still includes him.
