Classmates isolate the narrator, and further attacks cost her an important exam and eventually her life. The jealousy began when the roommate’s crush helped carry her luggage. Returning to freshman orientation, the narrator recognizes the danger behind that innocent persona and prepares to turn the same excuse against her.
